Institut Kemajuan Desa or known as INFRA (Institute For Rural Advancement) is the main training institute for rural development management under the structure of the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKLW). The establishment of INFRA in 1996 should be seen as the culmination and extension of the determination and vision of the late Tun Haji Abdul Razak bin Hussein which was started in the early 1960s to defend the fate of rural communities through strategies to develop rural areas and empower the potential of rural people. The main focus of INFRA is to train leaders at the grassroots level and conduct research related to rural development issues in an effort to improve rural management methods and approaches. INFRA is also involved at the international level in co-organizing training programs such as the Malaysian Technical Cooperation Program (MTCP) Training Program for Third World Countries and other rural institutions such as the Afro-Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO), Center in Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) and the Commonwealth Secretariat (COMSEC)
